Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment: Practice Exercises for the NCLEX® Examination, 4th Edition is the original and most popular NCLEX review book on the market focused exclusively on building prioritization, delegation, and patient assignment skills! If you don't go through this book before taking the NCLEX, you are doing yourself a great disservice. I just took (and passed) the NCLEX, and there were many questions of the type in this book. I found the case study chapters to be a little less beneficial than the chapters in the front of the book, so if you are pressed for time, you can probably skip the case studies. And some of the questions in this book are harder than anything I saw on the NCLEX, but it is worth the mental pain to go through them. You will feel so much more comfortable when answering questions on the NCLEX that have to do with prioritizing which patient you assess first, which patient you should visit first, etc. Get this book. You will not regret it!

I passed NCLEX in 75 questions I wasn't really concerned that I wouldn't, but this book was an excellent study tool that I wish I would have even done as a student if I had the motivation. Excellent lessons and concepts are presented in this book regarding prioritization. I only disagreed with a few, and there were minimal errors throughout the book (unlike other books I used to study). I would highly recommend this book for students to help understand the responsibilities of nurses and other health care professionals, as well as those studying for NCLEX. A little bit about myself to help calm nerves and possibly gauge your likelihood of passing (I know I would have appreciated this when I was reading book reviews). I graduated with my BSN in May 2012 with a 3.67 GPA, and I had my RN job lined up on an Oncology/Hospice unit the February before I graduated. I wasn't even going to study for the NCLEX, but became nervous when my many overdramatic nursing peers (even the smart ones) started signing up for KAPLAN and buying thick study books and material. I was confident that I didn't need KAPLAN, and I heard from my peers who took it that it was a waste of time (only benefit was the online test questions). In the end, I was glad I got a little nervous and studied. I think I could have passed without studying (maybe not as quick as 75 questions), but I would have been a nervous wreck without the confidence studying gave me. My study recommendations: 1. Focus on doing practice questions (I used a combination of the NCLEX style questions from my nursing textbooks at the end of chapters, CDs that came with NCLEX study books I bought, question only NCLEX specific study books, and some online KAPLAN tests that my friend didn't use so she gave me her password for me to do them) 2. Don't bother reading your old textbooks 3. Don't kill yourself with memorizing meds (you probably won't recognize the ones you see on the test anyway) Know that the test questions are mainly based on your common sense and general knowledge for solving a specific scenario. In total I think I did around 2,500 questions and averaged 60% on most of the practice tests I did. I felt like a failure when I was doing the practice tests because I thought my scores were so low, but honestly it prepared me for how I would feel during the test. I left the test feeling pretty good because I didn't feel any worse than when I would take all those confidence shattering practice tests. I studied for about 1 month and maybe a couple hours a day. Studying was surprisingly fun because the questions were like trivia and I learned a ton from them. I wish I would have been doing NCLEX questions throughout my entire nursing education just because I learned so much from them! Everything started coming together while I was studying. I actually feel like a very competent nurse having studied as much as I did. Maybe that's why they have us take it! Finally the tools I used to study and the ones I recommend: 1. Lippincott's Q&A Review for NCLEX-RN (This was my favorite book and I highly recommend it. Enough questions to be your only study tool. High quality questions and minimal editing errors. Written by a FAAN awarded RN, which is basically the highest honor you can receive in the nursing world. Lippincott's Q&A Review for NCLEX-RN
Someone who had taken and passed NCLEX the first time she took it highly recommended this book to me, and I am so glad she did. I too passed on my first try, and this book was a great study tool. Prioritizing patient care and delegating tasks to LPNs and CNAs were NCLEX questions that I was not very good at, so this book was very helpful. It's all Q & A, and I felt like doing NCLEX questions was the best way to study for the test. Great buy!
Hard book but it was one of the best ones wich helped me to pass. Saunders was also very good.
I had my test this month and I used this review. I passed with 93 q's and I only used half of the book due to time constrictions. It breaks down the chapters by systems and it helps you concentrate on what is important to study. I strongly recommended. Movies download game of thrones.
This book is a must for any nursing student. I have noticed some of my nursing exam questions have came straight from this book. I love that the questions are organized by content area. It has really helped me with delegation questions, and understanding the role of the LPN as well. It's also nice because it's small, if you don't feel like lugging around a 10lb. review book.
This book is essential for NCLEX preparation. It was highly recommended to me by several students one cohort ahead of me who already passed the exam, and I am so-o-o-o glad they told me about it. They informed me I would be surprised to learn what an LPN could and could not do, regardless of what I was taught. They were absolutely correct - there are many technicalities about delegation I have not found anywhere else yet. Prioritization is an especially tough topic for many, and this book does an outstanding job of helping you learn this skill. I can almost guarantee you will feel much better about it upon completion of this book. I think it is a must-have to increase your level of knowledge and build confidence to walk through the door of the exam testing center. I really appreciate the way this book is organized, and think you will do best if you do the book in the order of which its chapters are written. There are 18 chapters by subject, and then 21 case studies. All answers are categorized as having a focus of either delegation, assignment, or prioritization. So, you can keep track of which areas you are doing better in, and you will know which area is your weakest. Of course, within the questions there is excellent review of all your basics such as ABGs, physical assessments, pathophysiology, etc. Hope this helps you in your book selections, and GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

This book is great. The questions are tough and make you think. Great rationales. The book contains questions on specific systems as well as case scenarios. Highly recommended.
I took my NCLEX RN yesterday and am glad that I bought this book. I found PDA questions on the exams very easy. So may delegation and prioritization questions. I did 85 questions and I have done PVT and I got good pop up. I find this book very useful, but you have to study hard for the NCLEX RN. I recommend this book, Kaplan strategies, and Saunders for contents. You have to know the contents for the SATA questions, a whole lot them. You will need everything that you learned in the nursing school to pass the NCLEX. Please, before you take the board, get a copy of this book for the sake of prioritization and delegation questions.
OMG I took NCLEX-RN a few days ago and passed with 75 questions..I credit this book for most of my success on the exam. It is an absolute must. It has 18 chapters divided into content areas and as the title states deal specifically with prioritizing, delegating, and assigning. The rationales are great and really help you to understand why you chose to see Pt A instead of Pt B, C, or D. Excellent supplement to your NCLEX prep
Want to pass NCLEX on the First try? This is your book.

i read this before taking my nclex-rn. It was SO helpful. At my school the instructors tried to balance our tests with questions like this and knowledge questions, but i still didnt feel like I was very good at prioritizing, delegating, or assigning, because as a student you dont use these skills as much in clinical. this book helped so much. it explained every answer and gave you tips for educated guessing. Pair this book with the yellow saunders book and youre golden!

Just took NCLEX and this was a major reason for my success
By Elizabeth Davison Sep 08, 2013
I just took the NCLEX a few days ago and I largely credit LaCharity et al for my ease in passing with minimum questions. About 1/3 of my exam was priority questions. I also had many ordered response questions such as the ones in this text. I thought LaCharity's questions were actually tougher than NCLEX, so using this book is like batting with weights. It's also slim and easy to carry around, unlike most NCLEX study books. My M.O.: Make a notebook page for each chapter (and case study, if you are doing those. I didn't) and write out the reason you missed each one. In addition, write out the rationales for the questions you guessed correctly on, just to solidify your knowledge. Study these notes and/ or make flashcards. Of all the texts I used (Saunders, Lippincott Alt. Format, and Kaplan strategies), I found LaCharity PDA to be the most helpful. Supplemental info for nursing students: For sheer volume in practice questions, I recommend you purchase NCLEX Mastery for your smart phone. You can also dl free Lippincott and Kaplan questions as well. Do not settle for the free NCLEX Mastery app, however. Pay the $24.99 for the full version because the features are highly valuable and user-friendly. Having apps allows you to study whenever you have small chunks of time. PDA, Hurst Review online, and the NCLEX Mastery app all helped me immensely. Happy studying.
A must do if you want to pass your NCLEX. I took the test the first time and failed (with the max. amount of questions) because I was bordering the passing line. Then, I bought this, did all the questions and read the rationales ---and also did Kaplan's review questions--- and passed after just studying 2 weeks with 75 questions! The trick is, you've learned the skills in your nursing studies, if you did well in your classes, that means you know the content and skills. But what the NCLEX tests you on is, as this book says: prioritization, delegation, and assignment, that's required of a RN. And this book teaches helps you see how the questions are asked so that you don't get distrated by the distractors!
I have heard many things about this book from people in school and on this site. Before buying this book, I had even borrowed a friend's and looked through it to see if it was something that would be useful to me. And I thought it was, so I bought it. I haven't read all of it just yet, just some parts here and there, and let me tell you, it is useful because you WILL learn something from this book. I saw a number of reviews on this site that would say something along the lines of this this book sort of helping them but not really since they didn't see a lot of questions on the NCLEX like the ones in the book. Yes, maybe that is true. But just because the book says its for NCLEX examination, doesn't mean that's all it should be used for. Think a little outside the box. There are a lot things mentioned in the book that will help you as a nurse to prioritize better in the clinical arena, which isn't always covered in any other nursing textbooks or classes. I personally find this to be a good resource, for both my exam and just in general.
I bought this book after reading reviews. I used this along with Saunders Comprehensive NCLEX review book and it really helped me PASS the NCLEX. Prioritization is so important on the NCLEX and understanding what needs to be addressed first. Reel rock 12 download. This book really lays it out so you get it. Strongly encourage you to purchase these two books. It made a huge difference.
I take the NCLEX soon, and this was an area I struggled in. Prioritizing and delegation was not something my school focused on, so it's an area I felt I needed additional help in. I do have drawbacks though. What's bad is that since there is no national or state standard of what assistive personnel, such as CNA's, PCT's, ULA's and LPN's do, it's very hard to know what to delegate to them. It's not the books' fault, it just is what it is. Also, prioritizing is subjective as well. There is no way to justify or qualify your rational as to why you chose to see patient 3 before patient 4 in the scenario. But that may be me looking way too much into it. Even though there are these sticking points for me, I feel this is a great tool to utilize while preparing for the NCLEX. This test is the biggest hurdle a grad will face, and I feel that being as prepared as possible will be the way to overcome it. This book will help you do just that,
which I hate. Definitely utilize this book when preparing for NCLEX

https://renewfarm789.weebly.com/universal-serial-bus-usb-controller-driver-windows-7-intel.html. I had several SATA on my NCLEX-RN exam. Passed at 75. This book definitely aided in my success, especially on SATA questions, which I hate. Definitely utilize this book when preparing for NCLEX.
I used this book to help me pass the NCLEX the first time. I also used the Kaplan strategies 2013-2014 nclex book, and Saunders 5th edition

The book is excellent. The questions are worded like Nclex but appear to be a little bit more difficult. It helped me with the prioritization types of questions. The rationales are easy to understand and informative. This is one of the must-have books to study for the Nclex RN exam. 90% of my class passed Nclex in our first try 70% thanks to this book. I highly recommend this book for nursing students.
I took the NCLEX twice before I purchase this book. The questions are NCLEX type questions once you get past the first chapter or two. I was near the standard on both attempts and took all 265 questions. After using this book and Kaplan along with ATI I passed in 85 questions. This book is worth the investment!
Perfect for nursing school! Helped me with learning how to take the tests for class. When all the answers are correct, picking the most correct one can be harder than you think. This book helps you to sort those answers out! If you are a nursing student, get this book to help you through the hardest time in your life! But it will be worth it!
This the same with the latest version. Buy this one instead! This is what I used for NCLEXRN, I passed 75 questions. First take!
Good price for this book
As a nursing student I'll take any helpful resource I can get my hands on. One of the teachers in my program (who happen to be the go-to NCLEX prep authority) recommended this to me. This book has really helped me understand the topics it covers. A few downsides I find that take it down to 4 stars: Its a pretty short book. It would be a lot more helpful if it had a broader and larger question base. There are not rationales for wrong answers like my favorite 'Success' series books. It does kind of say why, but doesn't give the detailed answers I really like and learn from in the 'Success' series books.
I needed this book for the management course in nursing school. I was a LPN bridging to RN. I didn't think I would need this book because I did this stuff everyday. I was wrong. This book dissected the in and out of prioritizing and delegating. There were many questions covering a myriad of topics. This was worth the money.

I liked the fact that there were some alternative style questions such as select all that apply. I was nervous about those and practicing was good and I'm glad I did since there seemed to be a lot of them on my test. The content of the book was a little repetitive I felt but it is a specialized book. No questions about lab values for kidney failure in here.
